Y Design Awards Results

Congratulations to the winners of the Y Design Awards 2007 which took place at the newly refurbished Royal Festival Hall on Tuesday last week.

Some of the best digital designers in the country were recognised at the event which saw the likes of LBi, glue London and Hicklin Slade & Partners walk away with awards for their work for clients as varied as Lacoste, the Royal Navy and Honda. There were surprises, laughter, few tears, but many beers consumed during the night as the digital community got together to celebrate the awards.

From the 14 winners featured on the Y Design Awards website, you can now vote for the best of these to receive the People's Choice Award which will be presented at a special event on Brighton pier on November 5th. To review the winners' work and vote for the People's Choice Award, click here.

MacLive Expo, 25-27 October

Showcasing the very best in the digital world, MacLive Expo returns this year, bigger, better and much, much more personal, giving visitors the chance to get close to major players in the world of design, photography, film and music.

You can check out the latest Mac, the best cameras on the market and the latest iPod accessories, while the Seminar Theatre will host a series of debates on topics such as blogging and making music.

There's also a new "Hands-on Theatre" where experts will show you the tricks of the trade on anything from how to set up a website, to starting podcasting, or getting the most out of your digital photography.

It all takes place at Olympia, Kensington from Thursday 25 to Saturday 27 October. To find out more click here.

Not just another gallery

Adrem Creative Recruitment recently launched dreamspace; a gallery that departs from the grandiose works of the well-known and showcases the best undiscovered talent in architecture and design. Offering a refreshing forum for designers, dreamspace has already attracted the interest of industry professionals and enthusiasts alike. Exhibitions so far have included "Mulitplicity"; a selection of Newcastle Uni's finest talent looking for their break in the big city, and Fundacion; an award winning design studio still in its infancy.

The next exhibition, running between 16th September and 12th October 2007, celebrates Stephen Williams Architects; a practice well known for projects for Warner Brothers and Universal Music. The exhibition provides a snapshot of recent projects and the exclusive private view event on 20th September marked the UK launch of Williams' monograph with DAAB Publishing.
