Job ref: THI/EN18685/JN2060
At Christian Aid, we believe the world can and must be swiftly changed to one where everyone can have a full life, free from poverty and injustice. However, our life-changing work would not be possible without our dedicated staff working tirelessly behind the scenes.
As front-end web developer/designer, you’ll be strengthening digital communications that reinforce our aim to end poverty the world over.
The front-end web developer/designer is based in the Communications and brand division, and reports to the senior web designer. You’ll work closely with colleagues throughout the organisation, including designers and web editors in the Digital marketing team, to manage the delivery of digital design projects, as directed by the senior web designer.
In collaboration with other departments, you will be responsible for designing our digital communications, ensuring high-quality output and visual impact, as well as developing front-end code and Flash ads/applications. You will make a vital contribution to the corporate identity of Christian Aid, adhering to brand guidelines while applying best practice in web design and user-interface.
Resilient and adaptable, you may come from a creative agency background, bringing vast experience of creating and maintaining the design of a wide range of digital assets.
Whatever your background, you will have extensive knowledge of web and new media technologies, user-centric design, usability, accessibility and W3C standards, and web 2.0 applications.
You will also be proficient in designing and coding for large database-driven websites, using Photoshop and hand-writing XHTML, CSS 2 and 3. On top of that, you will be used to producing Flash banners/small applications, implementing JavaScript/Ajax and Actionscript 3 on a daily basis. Knowledge of Tridion, Drupal, Venda, and international affairs are also desirable.
It is vitally important when applying for this position for us to see online examples of your work, either on Creativepool or via easily accessible links.
We value the contribution of everyone who works for us. That’s why you can expect a wide range of rewards, including a generous holiday allowance, a season ticket loan and the flexibility that helps you enjoy a good work/life balance.
