WEB DESIGNER / GRAPHIC DESIGNER – DESIGN / BRANDING AGENCY

At a normal agency you'd probably be called a Middleweight Designer, maybe an Information Designer.  Our client would rather you called yourself whatever's comfortable. Ability matters more than titles - and reactive, lead-swinging chair-fillers need not apply.

Our client is a brand & communications agency, about to become a group with offers in management consultancy, information design and customer retention.

They help organisations communicate themselves clearly, imaginatively and - above all - honestly. They work with plcs, government agencies and smaller firms too.

They've got rid of the pointless, political and control-freak things about work. You write your own job description and work where and when you work best (as long as the work gets done).  You'll have a massive amount of freedom, but also some very tough responsibilities. They expect everyone they work with to be clever, driven and use their freedom to do the best job they can.

You.

You're creative in everything you do, intelligent, driven, independent, talented, motivated, proactive as hell and commercial. You'll have a portfolio with some clever, practical thinking and examples of well thought-out, information-focused communication. You're a real human being with a heart, a soul and a very, very creative brain.

What you'll do.

Ultimately, you'll be responsible for producing compelling, realistic ideas and producing high-quality creative output.  You'll be heavily involved in the ideation, presentation and execution of work.

• You'll need to be able to listen to, hear, prioritise and translate client situations, marketing goals and information into strategic brand concepts, voice, messages and rationales.
• You'll be able to collaborate proactively in the creative process and work alongside members of the account team.
• Continually learn, evaluate and implement new ideas that make things work better.

What you'll need to have:

• Superior collaboration, problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Proactive attitude - absolutely vital.
• Comprehensive understanding of communication principles.
• Ability to present and judge creative concepts and copy, and clearly communicate creative direction to others.
• Skill in writing and presenting cohesive and persuasive rationales for your ideas.
• Excellent communication, planning, time-management and follow-through skills.
• Excellent knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Working knowledge of Flash/Dreamweaver and Microsoft Office/iWork.

Salary: Between £23,000 and £27,000 at the moment, but you tell us what you're worth.
Working hours: They don't have them.  You work where and when you like.  They manage by results.
Where you'll be: You get to work in a converted seventeenth century tithe barn, looking out over fields, horses and trees. Rush hour around there is two horses and a pheasant. At the same time, they are up in London a couple of days a week seeing clients.
