Position Overview:

Reporting to the Head of User Experience, the Web Designer will help design and build the front end experiences and applications used by EAN Affiliates and their customers. EAN is the largest private label travel solution in the world, with an overall global retail business of over $1 billion through more than 8,000 affiliates in 33 countries.

A key role in the EAN User Experience team the Web Designer will create engaging and commercially effective designs for web pages, interaction modules and applications. The Web Designer will form a key part of the User Experience team linking the Information Architecture and Interaction Design functions with our front end development capability.

All candidates must provide examples of work with CVs demonstrating an ability to generate ideas, problem solve and arrive at a solution effectively. You will have seen projects from start to end (no design and run, please) and be able to defend your designs with business metrics or user-derived quantitative / qualitative data.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the UX team to translate requirements, specifications and wireframes into visual designs.

Create designs that are readily transferable to real code by our Design Tech function.

Build low to high fidelity prototypes for design research.

Author visual design specifications.

Contribute to the UX Design System.

Support EAN Marketing with creative assets as needed.

Create, optimize, and extract artwork for internal and external customers.

Translate offline campaign themes into meaningful online designs for use in promotions.

Contribute to requirements and functional specifications.

Continuously improve the user interface using customer insight with the aim of increasing conversion.

Produce estimates for future tasks and projects.

Contribute to advancing the teams design methodology, focusing on quality, client-side performance and efficiency.

Keep up to date with new developments in relevant design, technology, standards and best practice.

Qualifications:

Essential:

Fantastic design skills a veritable Photoshop god.

Ability to create multiple concepts and then refine to final design based upon feedback.

An excellent understanding of the implications of designing for front-end mark up if you can write valid XHTML and CSS even better.

Demonstrable experience working from functional and UI specification documentation.

Experience documenting web style guides.

Experience of creating lo-fi and hi-fi working prototypes preferred.

An understanding of web standards and their implication upon design.

An understanding of accessibility requirements and their implication upon design.

A working understanding of dynamically generated websites.

Ability to accept constructive criticism and drive designs to sign-off.

Ability to work with minimal management on multiple projects.

Embraces creativity, innovation and is open to new ideas.

Cross-disciplined candidates (interaction design, design research, visual design, client-side mark-up) experience will be given higher consideration.

Work Experience and Education Guidelines:

Degree-level or equivalent experience, specialising in web design, graphic design or typography.

5+ years designing websites, with experience in e-commerce and visual design.
