We have an exciting opportunity for a Soft Toy Design Manager within the toys department
Do you experience of designing soft toys?
Do you want to work in a dynamic, creative team developing the M+S toy range?

We are looking for a design manager to create an innovative and exciting range of plush for our category.

Ideally with knowledge and understanding of soft toy development, you will be responsible for the design of the range from trend development through initial briefing, to factory sampling, to packaging artwork.

This exciting role will support the team of managers who also develop wood, puzzles and arts and crafts. An interest in these other toy areas would also be beneficial.

Our studio environment is exciting, inspiring and friendly. You will be working with our design resource and our other team functions including technical and product- allowing teamwork and also working to your own initiative. Range delivery also includes budget and critical path management and occasional client presentations.

The Tigerprintbusiness was formed in 1996 to supply exclusive cards and wrapping to Marks and Spencer. We now design and manufacture over 1500 new products created every year. We continue to expand into new and growing areas like toys, games and stationery.

Job Purpose and Responsibilities

The purpose of this role is to creatively manage the design and development of the soft toy range for M&S.

In this role your key responsibilities will include:

identifying trends in styles and fabrics to apply to range development
briefing designers to concept and design products
working up product briefs and specs for suppliers
working closely with PMS to create cost effective products
working closely with our tech functions to ensure safety requirements are met
occasional client presentations
managing budget for freelance design resource
managing the CDP from brief to final packaging and artwork

Requirements

To drive success in this role the essential requirements you should demonstrate are:

experience of design management (ideally including childrens toys)
an understanding of designing for plush
the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
the creative vision to style the ranges in a unique and exclusive way

Ideally, you should also have:

mac skills (illustrator, photoshop, office)
people management skills
